Famke Beumer Janssen was born on November 5, 1965 in Amstelveen, Netherlands. She attended University of Amsterdam where she studied economics. She then enrolled at Columbia University to study literature and creative writing. She began her career as a fashion model when she moved to the US in 1984.
She then started acting in the 1990s, appearing in TV shows. On the big screen, she rose to stardom when she landed the role of Xenia Onatopp in 1995’s GoldenEye. She then came to wider fame for her portrayal of Jean Grey in the X-Men film series. She also starred opposite Liam Neeson in Taken and Taken 2.
Has Famke Janssen had Plastic Surgery?
Jean Grey will not succumb to plastic surgery, that’s according to Janssen herself. The 48-year-old actress looks gorgeous than ever and despite her age, she still is busy with various projects in the show business, which contradicts the common notion that aging women in Hollywood don’t get as many work opportunities as they used to have when younger. When asked about her plastic surgery options, she answered: “Gravity will work against you. You can try to fight the process, but you’re not going to win the battle.”
She revealed that instead of worrying about how she looks and getting something done to look younger, she prefers to focus her energy on writing and directing, which already paid off when her directorial debut Bringing Up Bobby premiered at the 64th Cannes Film Festival in 2011. With the trend of going under the knife, she confessed: “There is something about plastic surgery that doesn’t make people look younger. It just makes them look stranger.”
