After playing a guest role in Now and Again in 1999, he landed his first main role on television as Hamilton Fleming in the short-lived series Young Americans.

In 2004, he gained recognition for his recurring role, playing the part of Adam Knight in Smallville, though it was his role as Boone Carlyle in Lost that earned him widespread notice.
