Joaquin Phoenix was born on October 28, 1974 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Late actor River Phoenix was his older brother. His other siblings, Rain and Summer Phoenix, are also actors. He began his acting career as a child performer, appearing on some television shows with brother River and sister Summer. He first gained recognition as a film actor for his role in 1989’s Parenthood.
In 2000, he achieved worldwide recognition for his portrayal of Commodus in Gladiator, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He next starred in such films as Quills, Signs, The Village, and Hotel Rwanda before receiving rave reviews for playing Johnny Cash in 2005’s Walk the Line, earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He has since been acclaimed for his performances in The Master (2012) and Her (2013).
Has Joaquin Phoenix had Plastic Surgery?
40-year-old Joaquin Phoenix is a remarkable actor, not only for his acing chops but for his notable physical appearance. Phoenix has a scar between his nose and upper lip and contrary to several claims, the said scar is not the aftermath of a repaired cleft lip. In interviews, the award-winning actor has clarified that the scar is a birthmark, something that makes him unique than he already is.
The amazing thing is, despite having the resources to eliminate his scar, the actor doesn’t seem to be bothered by this and wears it even proudly. Why would he? His career is blossoming as ever and there is no indication that this mark on his face has caused him any trouble when it comes to his profession as an actor. Surely, this says a lot about the actor and his admirable confidence and disregard of superficial Hollywood standards. Talk about sticking to who you really are and wearing it like an armor.
