The ceremony for the 2015 Academy Awards is getting closer by the minute that the female nominees should be checked not only for their acting chops, but also for their stance on one of Hollywood’s closest allies – plastic surgery.
Best Actress Nominees
54-year-old Julianne Moore has been in the acting industry long enough and despite the stress and the pressure of staying young and looking good, the actress has opted to stay plastic surgery-free. Nominated for her role in Still Alice, Moore doesn’t believe in the necessity to go under the knife, saying that plastic surgery doesn’t make anyone more beautiful, but rather just someone who looks like she has something done to her face, which, for her isn’t appealing.
Reese Witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon is one of the actresses in Hollywood who apparently hasn’t had any plastic surgery. Her imperfections are what makes her obviously free from any cosmetic surgery. The actress has also stated that although she hasn’t gone under the knife, she personally is fine with people opting to take the plastic surgery route as long as this makes them happier and more confident. However, she also said that she doesn’t consider plastic surgery as something that can fix someone as a person.
Rosamund Pike
Former Bond girl Rosamund Pike is as captivating as ever. Ever since gaining mainstream attention among international audiences, her amazing looks have been the subject of plastic surgery claims. Being said that, there have been reports saying that the celebrity has had a nose job prior to making it big in Hollywood. However, the actress was quick to refute the claims, saying she has never had any sorts of plastic surgery.
Felicity Jones
The youngest nominee, Felicity Jones faces a promising future in Hollywood, and her Best Actress nomination for her portrayal of Jane Wilde Hawking in The Theory of Everything is certainly a good start. Since she’s only in her early 30s (which is already surprising because she looks way younger), Jones doesn’t show any signs of plastic surgery as she looks young and fresh, something that she’s supposed to look like because she is young.
Marion Cotillard
French actress has wowed mainstream audiences worldwide for her portrayal of French singer Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose, earning her her first Oscar win for Best Actress. Nominated this time for her role in Two Days, One Night, Marion Cotillard is more famous than ever. However, her popularity also makes her vulnerable to rumors of plastic surgery. Recently, there have been reports suggesting that the 39-year-old actress has had breast implants based on her seemingly fuller cleavage. Could the actress be influenced by Hollywood’s standard of beauty? Hopefully not, because she’s already beautiful the way she is.
Best Supporting Actress Nominees
Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep may be in her 60s, but she’s still ravishing as ever. Her class and elegance, accompanied by her excellent knack for acting is what makes her truly legendary. Her Best Supporting Actress nomination for her performance in Into the Woods is only one of the several awards and nominations that she has already gotten throughout her acting career. She also stands out as an actress who doesn’t seem to be bothered by aging. Unlike other celebrities taking the plastic surgery route to try defy aging, Streep opts to go on with life old but confidently beautiful as she selects the natural aging process.
Laura Dern
Laura Dern has had her wild and prolific days in the 1980s and 1990s. But even up until now that she’s already in her late 40s, the celebrity still manages to involve herself with quality projects. Being nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award for her role as Reese’s mother in Wild, Dern has stated that she’s not considering plastic surgery, even if it would make her younger, saying she doesn’t want to mess with her face. The actress even shared her plan of continuing to act in France as she gets older as French cinema doesn’t have any issues with aging women, unlike Hollywood.
Patricia Arquette
46-year-old television and film star makes it big again as she gets her Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role in Boyhood. Recently, Patricia Arquette is generating much buzz about her freshness and vibrant atmosphere despite being in her late 40s. Because of this, reports about her getting Botox injections started to circulate. Such claims, however, are not as persistent as those other rumors. The actress has also spoken of the subtle necessity in Hollywood to look beautiful and young for all time, saying that she recognizes such pressures for actresses to look strange and unrealistic, though she mentioned nothing about her stance on plastic surgery.
Keira Knightley
Keira Knightley is easily noticeable in her every film role despite her tiny frame. It’s because she’s a magnificent actress with great talents. Now nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Imitation Game, the English actress who’s just 29 years old is certainly at the peak of a very fruitful acting career. However, there have been rumors about the actress undergoing plastic surgery to alter the way she looks. She allegedly has had a nose job, which is reportedly apparent if compared to her younger appearance. Before making it big in Hollywood, her nose was said to lack refinement, intensifying reports of a rhinoplasty procedure. Aside from fixing her nose, the pretty actress also has had something done to make her mouth appear fuller and more pouty.
Emma Stone
Emma Stone is getting more beautiful each day, thanks to a booming career and love life (Andrew Garfield). Her performance in Birdman earned her her first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, proving that she’s over with cutesy roles on the big screen and that she’s capable of a lot more. The 26-year-old actress, however, also faces rumors of plastic surgery as observers claim that her nose has changed from round to sharper and more well-defined. There are also claims that her current lips may be a result of lip enhancements or injections as her lips were so thin when she was just starting out, but became fuller now that she’s famous.
