Samantha Mathis was born on May 12, 1970 in Brooklyn, New York. She moved to Los Angeles with her mother when she was five. Though her mother discouraged her from acting, she decided she wanted to be an actress when she was 12. She first gained recognition on TV for her roles in Aaron’s Way and Knightwatch (1988-1989).
She made her film debut in 1990’s Pump Up the Volume. She has since rose to further fame for roles in well-known movies, including This Is My Life, Super Mario Bros., The Thing Called Love, Little Women, How to Make an American Quilt, American Psycho and many others.
Has Samantha Mathis had Plastic Surgery?
Samantha Mathis is known for her sweet and innocent image back in the late 1980s and 1990s. She even dyed her natural blonde hair black in Pump Up the Volume so she could change that image to fierce and strong-willed. Now 44, the actress still has her girlish charm that made her a star back then. Though her acting career in the present is not as prolific as it was when she was at the peak of her stardom, Mathis currently manages to score television and film roles, recently appearing as the lead character in the 2012 film Atlas Shrugged: Part II and as a recurring role on the TV series Under the Dome.
The 44-year-old actress is also reportedly plastic surgery-free. Despite being in her 40s, Mathis does not feel threatened by her age and continues to appear on screen looking naturally beautiful. However, Mathis, along with other actresses her age, share the same sentiment about the lack of acting opportunities Hollywood has for women their age. This serious shortage of roles has led some actresses to go under the knife just to look 10 to 20 years younger so they could continue working in the film industry. Mathis, however, declines to go with the plastic surgery flow in Hollywood and opts to age gracefully.
