Emily Irene VanCamp was born on May 12, 1986 in Port Perry, Ontario. She began her career by appearing in some commercials, later appearing in a non-speaking role in Are You Afraid of the Dark?. She then gained recognition in 2002 as Amy Abbott in the TV series Everwood.
After Everwood ended, she starred in a number of feature films, including Black Irish (2007), Carriers (2009) and Norman (2010). She later gained wider fame for her role in 2013’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. She now plays the dual roles of Emily Thorne and Amanda Clarke in the TV series Revenge.

The Revenge star hasn’t had any plastic surgery, nor would she have one in the future. When asked about her thoughts on the growing number of men and women succumbing to plastic surgery, she admitted that though there are pressures in looking good in the industry she’s in, she won’t ever give in.
Her grandmother has inspired her to age gracefully as the wrinkles she sees on her grandma’s face are signs of a happy and a fruitful life, which makes a person truly beautiful. She revealed that instead of relying to artificial means to look good, she focuses on the natural way, doing exercises, yoga and Pilates.
